Integrated Design: An Experiment in Teaching and Learning Designpreneurship
綜合設計：一個教授與學習設計創業的實驗
In today’s society, problems are becoming increasingly complex and ever-changing. Relying solely on the knowledge of a single design discipline is insufficient to solve these wicked problems.
To equip new generation of design students to intervene and analyse societal issues with ‘System Thinking’ and ‘Multi-dimensional Framework’, PolyU Design introduced an interdisciplinary ‘Integrated Capstone Project’ for final-year Bachelor students in 2020, allowing students from different disciplines to collaborate and conduct research and design together.
The book ‘Integrated Design’ documents sketches and experimental processes undertaken by seven interdisciplinary projects. In addition to showcasing the collaborative design process between students and instructors, it also demonstrates how PolyU Design responds to current social issues through a new teaching methodology.
在現今社會中，問題變得越來越複雜且變幻無常。單靠一個設計學科的知識無法解決這些棘手問題。為了培訓新一代的設計學生以「系統思維」和「多維度框架」介入和剖析社會問題，理大設計於二零二零年為畢業學年的學士學生增設了跨學科的「綜合設計專案」，讓不同學科的學生以一個畢業作品進行研究和設計。
《綜合設計》這一本書記錄了七個不同跨學科項目的草圖和實驗過程。除了展示學生和導師共同設計的過程外，也見證了理大設計以全新的教學模式回應現今社會問題。
